On Antonio Khan-Gill (the Antonio of the 2000's A.D.) and some notes regarding his heritage and surname.
09/21/25:
Antonio Khan-Gill has been a fixture in Antonio Chandrani-Rivera's secret Dream Blog...!
You can find them here or here.
Recently, I dropped a sketch featuring him and his mysterious Alejandro "C." ... This!
(Currently only found here on Neocities, but I'll update in the next few days and fix this link soon. For now you can see it here on Tumblr.)
And remembered our current Alejandro (100k years in the future) in the year 9990's ATF is named "Alejandro Caldera."
So I wanted to note! Antonio K.'s Alejandro C. isn't named Caldera! He has a pretty well-known Latine surname, though.
In regards to Antonio Khan-Gill... He's still Latino!
I actually only learned this recently:
And originally chose the name Khan because I thought it'd be a surname you could find just about anywhere. Not to mention the larger reason! ( Nasir's family. While he's Hadid-Salah, his elder siblings are Khan-Salah. You can find art of them here.)
If you've checked out the novella excerpt, Antonio implies a lot about his family lineage as "Antonio Khan-Gill." It'll be gone into deeper in later novels, but essentially Antonio will often refer to "several countries," lol, and "Bengal" is a feature.
As for "Gill"... While I'm aware of the surname "Gil," I chose Gill on purpose and partly due to a plot point, though the sea-theme-naming is fun.
In contrast, Alejandro C. has a pretty typical Latine surname, like I said above. That's about it!
Extra note at 2 AM lol: I personally prefer Antonio K.-G. to have Caribbean ancestry and it'll be part of canon... I want certain metaphors to come across with Lotus + Citaa (+ Wanderer being close; that map hasn't been shown yet), but mostly draw from growing up in Texas!
