Cover image for the announcement of the title of the upcoming science fantasy horror visual novel with BL and yuri elements--

The title is "Blue Horizon: The Art and Dance of Fernando Chandrani-Rivera." It says "upcoming game" by the title. Behind it is a game-related artwork.

The artwork description (the same as the recent artwork I've dropped here on Tumblr): a pixelated retro-looking desktop where fernando chandrani-rivera is looking very gently at a cheery diego garza. fernando has flowing hair that seems to pull down into a braid with a pink ribbon, while diego has a dark pomade and niko-niko generally closed cheery eyes going on out of happiness. the desktop background is a rose pink and a few icons populate it--a world-like icon, a 'notepack' icon, an anime eye with a fuchsia spectral pupil, a simple chibi bunny icon nearer to fernando, and an odd paw-like icon by an error screen. by fernando's chest there's an odd diamond icon with a heart. all these icons have a fantasy language under them. the error message displays a chibi twin antonio chandrani-rivera with squiggly soft red chibi eyes and he has his usual blue hair like waves and wears a chibi blue shirt with soft falling blue sleeves like waves. there's aquamarine waves behind him on the error message. the error message says 'A devil-may-care ERROR OCCURRED.' beside the text there's a pink pixelated broken heart icon. the error message's upper section is a wave-like aquamarine stripe. there's two other error message--one looks normal like the main one above and another has a strange gold tone with a rainbowing array to it.

End image description.

Official announcement for the upcoming science fantasy horror visual novel with yuri and BL elements...

The title for the upcoming visual novel is "Blue Horizon: The Art and Dance of Fernando Chandrani-Rivera."

People here and on Tumblr know I put off making an official announcement of the title.

I wrote a prelude short story for the game--which I will include in a ZIP of the game AND will put up on Itch separately after the game's release--but If anyone was curious enough to click the Neocities mirror, which is on my main site for Blue Horizon, they already saw the name. ^^"

It was formerly known by the WIP title "Blue Horizon Halloween visual novel" OR for a short time, "Blue Horizon Doors Visual Novel."

Here's the current details of this upcoming game:

Genre: Science fantasy horror with BL and yuri elements

Level of completion: ~30%. Outline completed. Coding completed. Script completed. Endings 10% completed. 3 main routes, 6 end scenes. 1 out of 14 characters' sprites done (Antonio). 0 out of 4 or 6 animations completed. 1 animation in progress.

Technical notes: Formerly a text-based IF game in concept, now a visual novel made via Ren'Py.

Summary:

Within the Boundless, a space apart from true reality that echoes the dreams and nightmares of humanoidkind, the mages of planet Imion can manage unbelievable feats. Antonio Chandrani-Rivera has long been connected to the Undying Waterfalls, one of three domains his twin brothers, himself, and their cousin Layla have been able to manifest due to their capability as mages.

Within the Undying Waterfalls...he has inflicted a gruesome spell on himself for the sake of finding his years' lost identical twin, Fernando Chandrani-Rivera. A spell he did not take the time to understand the full cost of. Already wary, Layla has invaded his Waterfalls and has decided she must stalk him to keep a track of his health.

The two of them discover 7 doors have materialized, each of which leads to 7 former friends' domains... With Antonio's health increasingly deteriorating, what trouble will appear behind each single door? And why does this spell warp important objects given to him into something eerie?

Main notes: Started this game running on the pure energy of wanting to release a Blue Horizon Halloween game. Tried installing Windows 11 on my ancient-ass refurbished computer. Now it is no longer a Halloween game and late December 2025.

SO. While I've [basically] finished the coding aspect of this admittedly short game, I still have ending scenes to readjust and finish. I've been adding in Antonio's sprites, and will have to complete several more main characters'...!

Antonio Chandrani-Rivera at about 20 years old with blue hair like waves, red eyes, brown skin, and wearing a dark blue sleeveless shirt with implied soft texture via the lining. The BG is a aqua to light blue vaguely swimming-pool color gradient. In this Antonio has a brash grin with drawn brows to match. This sprite has an intense anime blush where Antonio appears incredibly embarrassed. Aqua blue anime sweat drops fly from him. Antonio goes: "My Pa and Baba. Do you mind if I talk about them?" The BG is the same eerie green waterfalls with immense strength with some ice on the side. Antonio's design is: Antonio Chandrani-Rivera at about 20 years old with blue hair like waves, red eyes, brown skin, and wearing a dark blue sleeveless shirt with implied soft texture via the lining. The BG is a aqua to light blue vaguely swimming-pool color gradient. This sprite has him blandly smiling.

You can find several of the main sprite artwork for the MC Antonio Chandrani-Rivera here.

Similar to the first Blue Horizon IF game (Blue Horizon: The Loved Garden Paths of Raj Rivera), word count for this upcoming Ren'Py visual novel will be around 20k. I'm revising the endings, so I'm unsure right now where exactly it will land by the end.

This is my first experience coding a visual novel and I've learned a lot!

in the skeet from 2 months ago on nailamoonsi dot bsky dot social i say:

game will be fun now.

code shows that i

added a time-out bar in the code

which is a lot of jargon that probably isn't pleasant to translate to alt text but above the code there's a short script.

layla says: "What'll happen if you don't find it?"
antonio says: It does hurt me--but you know how well I self-heal."

The time-out code involves them seeming to get in a fight. Dodge ("LAYLA listen to me."), block ("I understand."), fight ("I stay powerful.").

Coding is "overall complete." Have to readjust the sound eventually and of course add in more characters and images; I've already done a test for the typical Ren'Py character sprite the MC interacts with, so no problems there.

Alongside finishing the code up more-or-less, I've been testing out animation programs for a few short animations I plan to utilize in the game.

Even as this has gone slowly due to how I work on Blue Horizon as a project, I've learned more about animating due to leaping into this game, too, so I'm glad I've started this journey. This is in spite of feeling like I have a few hurdles ahead trying to complete a relatively short game. ^^"

Here's an original concept image that I had to change the animation test of; I'll redo it at some point, but I guess the next update will focus on showing off more character sprites and the actual animations...!

Antonio Chandrani-Rivera and Alejandro Altaha by the Herrera family rose arch. Antonio is falling asleep, eyes closed, and falling onto Alejandro's shoulder. Alejandro is peering at him with a soft smile and sparkling red eyes. Antonio has blue hair like waves swishing softly as he falls, while Alejandro has long violet hair that stands in for black with pink fall of stands around his face. Antonio has brown skin and wears a teal sleeveless shirt while Alejandro has light bronze skin and wears a pink tunic. There is a white bench beneath them and a leaf green garden behind them. The family rose arch has pink roses falling down behind them, and pink petals drift everywhere around them. There is a bit of sparkling light around.

Edit: Additionally! Here's a tiny bit about the so-far mysterious Fernando Chandrani-Rivera, along with Diego Garza's (the character by him in the retro desktop artwork) initial thoughts about him.
